Character information
Name: Alexandra Udinov, usually goes by the alias Alex Winslow
Age: 19
Date of Birth: July 1st, 1996
Canon: Nikita
Species: Werewolf. Seeing as "anger management issues" and "strong family ties" sum her up pretty well, werewolf seems like a natural fit for her.
Role: Beta in the East End Pack. She tried to be on her own for her first month or two in London but eventually gravitated towards the pack. She's got enough money saved that she doesn't need a job, and when she runs out of money, she'll just try to steal it.
Rank: 1
Background: Alex was raised in the lap of luxury. Her father, Nikolai Udinov, was the alpha of one of the most powerful and influential werewolf packs in Russia, a role he earned by killing his way up through the ranks of the pack and then by waging bloody scorched-earth warfare against other supernatural creatures who had made Moscow their home. Within the pack, he was respected for his fearlessness and the beneficence he showed towards those loyal to him. To everyone else, he was a vicious killer, unafraid to murder anyone who challenged his power. Nikolai's second-in-command, Sergei Semak, was neither respected nor feared, but he wanted to be alpha nonetheless. Afraid of challenging Nikolai directly, Semak hired outsiders to massacre Nikolai, Alex, and every member of the pack who he believed would resist his leadership, and had them make it look like a vampire attack.

Alex was thirteen at the time. After her father was killed, someone rescued her, and she ended up being handed off to a low-ranking member of the pack who remained secretly loyal to Nikolai. Fearing retribution for harboring Nikolai's heir, he sold Alex for the best offer he could get: to a man who ran a seedy traveling carnival, in which he peddled the wonders of the supernatural world to humans who thought it was all done with smoke and mirrors.

The carnival owner liked the idea of having a "wolf girl" as a sideshow attraction, but after a full moon came and went and Alex failed to change, he realized her curse wasn't activated. So he made her kill another girl who worked at the carnival. Alex spent months locked up, usually drugged to keep her complacent, transforming every full moon for a paying audience. Eventually, the carnival owner was able to exploit his connections to get her a moonlight necklace, and forced her to change nightly. After about half a year of this, while the carnival was in rural Michigan, Alex managed to get out of her cage and escape into the countryside, losing her moonlight necklace in the process.

Alex spent four years homeless and feral, still addicted to the drugs she'd been kept on, until she was found by a woman named Nikita, who claimed to have saved Alex the night her family died. She got Alex clean, and trained her to kill other supernatural creatures. Nikita had a mission to get revenge on a group that had wronged her, and Alex helped her fight them. Eventually, it came to light that Nikita had killed Alex's father, and that Semak had given the order. Alex cut ties with her mentor and came to London, hoping to gain the connections and resources necessary to get back into Russia and kill Semak.

Personality: Alex's greatest fear is that she'll become just like her father, or worse. Though Nikolai was always loving to her, he did a lot of terrible things, and Alex believes that, deep down, she's capable of those things too. Above all, she wants to be a good person, and though her sense of right and wrong may be skewed by years of harsh living, she clings to it stubbornly.

There is one lesson of her father's that Alex took to heart: he taught her to only ever depend on herself and her skills for survival, because everything she owns and every ally she might make can be taken away in an instant, and anyone, even those closest to her, might betray her. This lesson is at the core of Alex's character. She exerts a great deal of effort to be self-sufficient, never asks for help, and is quick to clean up her own mistakes when she makes them. She always wants to do things on her own terms, and while she can take orders and work with others, she tries not to let people push her around. Trust is not something she gives lightly. She is always questioning others' motives, always suspects that everyone has a hidden agenda, and never fully lets her guard down with anyone. In any kind of relationship, Alex values honesty above all else. This is pretty hypocritical of her, since she herself habitually lies about her identity, her past, and often her motives.

Despite all of that, Alex doesn't like being on her own. She quickly forms emotional connections with those who need help or those who help her, and especially with parental figures. As a result of losing both her parents at a young age, Alex is drawn to mother and father figures, even people she knows are dangerous. And though she can be outspoken and rebellious, she looks to her parental figures for advice, protection, and support. She's also very protective of those she cares about, and would never leave a friend behind. She can sometimes selfishly cling to people she really should let go of. She's lost so many loved ones that once she becomes close with someone, she can't handle the idea of losing them too.

When Nikita first found her, Alex was suicidal, having been alone and miserable for years and seeing no future for herself. Nikita convinced her that she had one thing to live for: revenge. Initially, Alex believed that vampires had slaughtered her family and became obsessed with hunting them, but once she realized the truth, her obsession turned to Sergei Semak. Alex's one goal is avenging her family's death, regardless of what that costs. She still has very little sense of a long-term future for herself, and is content to die as long as she takes Semak down with her.

Alex has several symptoms of PTSD, including nightmares, panic attacks, flashbacks, and survivor's guilt. Most of this stems from watching her father's murder, but some of the survivor's guilt is tied to the carnival. She wasn't the only supernatural kid forced to perform, but she's the only one she knows of to get out alive, and she feels guilty for leaving others behind when she escaped. She's been taught to repress these things so she can function, but not to deal with all of them in a healthy manner, leaving some of her issues simmering just under the surface. Alex also struggles with a sense of powerlessness, some of which is tied to her problems with drug addiction, and some to her survivor's guilt. Her response to this is anger. Alex is aggressive, reckless, and never backs down from a fight. When everyone else is running away from something, Alex will run towards it. She takes wild risks if she feels they're worth the reward.

By nature, Alex is not very subtle and prefers direct, frequently violent, solutions to her problems. Nikita did, however, train her to lie well and how to manipulate people, and she's fairly comfortable using those kinds of tactics when they suit her. She's also clever and resourceful. She's good at making connections and extrapolating facts from small details, and figuring out ways to get her job done when she doesn't necessarily have the means. She's stubborn, and refuses to let any task defeat her. And she can be quite cocky, not always taking things as seriously as she should.

There are some very basic things Alex isn't good at, like cooking or even buying food, because she's never had the need or opportunity to do them before. But after living in inhuman conditions for years, she gets very excited over these things, and other new experiences that seem boring and everyday to the average person.

Powers & Possessions: Alex's father taught her to survive in the wild in human form, so she knows how to track, hunt, climb, and build fires and find shelter in the woods. Her mentor trained her extensively in both armed and unarmed combat. Unarmed combat is her forte, but she knows her way around most weapons.

She owns several wooden stakes, a silver knife, and a Beretta handgun with a few clips of silver-tipped and wood-tipped rounds. She also has a few jars of wolfsbane potion.

Pinsky Forest, Russia
Pinsky Forest spans half a million acres in Western Russia, just outside Moscow, and is home to the Zetrov Pack, one of the largest werewolf packs in the country. The whole forest is off-limits to vampires and any other supernatural creature who isn't an ally of the pack. In recent decades, the pack extended its influence into Moscow itself, all but wiping out the vampire presence there and turning the whole city into a contentious battleground.
